Technical Manager, Research & Development

Responsible for the technical development of new and existing products within Consumer health R&D. To help define the development strategy within the project objectives. An emphasis to initiate, manage and be responsible for the technical activities within the development process. Will actively participate and engage in technical transfer activities from R&D to manufacturing plant. Engage with external contractors / vendors and oversee the development work of internal teams, external contractors and consultants. Responsible for preparation of technical data essential for commercialisation of products. Leads the scientific design of technical development programs and leads the creation of expertise that can be submitted as part of regulatory dossiers, scientific advice meetings and expert reports. Represents R&D on project teams, during due diligence and strategic partnership activities.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Responsible for executing technical developments strategies from R&D to manufacturing plant.
* Preparation of documents that generate and present technical data accurately and data of experiments conducted
* Responsible for design and research of new innovative products.
* Accountable for accurate and current product development plans.
* Improve and/or replace existing chemical ingredients to achieve better quality product properties
* Liaises with and selects external partners that can invent and create new products for consumer healthcare.
* Establishes and maintains effective communication and collaboration with functional area peers, including basic research, regulatory, quality assurance, programme management and marketing.
* Understands and interprets data generated from a variety of sources, including internal and external studies, research documentation, charts, graphs, tables and published literature to drive product development and manage product life cycles.
* Provides input to commercial functions on product strategies and feasibility to market.
* Work in a cross-functional research team that improves and/or troubleshoots existing product issues.
* Generate and maintain SOPs, research protocols and records

Qualifications and Experience
* Educational Qualifications: Science degree, with significant experience in industry and substantial knowledge of liquid and semi-sold product development process with a focus on OTC and FMCG Consumer Health (minimum 4 years).

Relevant Experience:
* Experience in industry of transferring product in a FMCG and OTC Healthcare environment.
* Competence in writing, editing and reviewing technical documents.
* A demonstrated ability to effectively manage internal and external cross functional relationships.
* Ability to present the medical and scientific interpretation of data across all functions
* Cultural sensitivity gained from experience within diverse environments.

Language Requirements:
* English, the ability to write documents in English suitable for regulatory submissions. Additional languages highly desirable.
